back from my ride

It was surprisingly hot today for September, but it was really nice to sit outside at Lulu's and answer email.  I sat next to a kid who was just off the plane from London and about to start UCSC  on education abroad program.  He asked, "so is the campus pretty?  Is it an OK school?"  He hadn't even seen it yet.
Remember your first day of University?  Or the first day you moved to a new town?  I don't really have any desire to go to school or get another degree, but I do envy being on the cusp of that sort of life changing event.  He looked pretty nervous, though, I don't envy that.

Peddled over to the cafe.

Now drinking and americano and answering emails. Too nice to stay in my office.

 But my phone is dead. Gareth played Tap Defense until it died. And it was so crashed/dead that it didn't recharge even though it was in the cradle all morning.

 Yeah, so don't call. ;-)

I ran a couple errands around town today on my bike.  Strangely I was pulled over by a sherif.  He just asked me a couple basic questions and then said, "we're looking for a stolen Bianchi just like yours, but the guy ridding it is probably a bit more 'transient' looking."

Nice enough guy, and I was glad for the stop after riding up a hill.  It did strike me as odd how much effort he was giving the hunt, though.  Santa Cruz police and Live Oak sheriffs are usually a bit too busy for this sort of thing.
